UK Report on Jobs

The latest monthly UK Report on Jobs from KPMG and the REC is just out.  In the UK, there are signs of recovery in the employment market.  Neil Carberry, REC Chief Executive said:

August saw .. a few positive signs – like an improving market for temps [in certain areas]. There is certainly potential out there….  For the economy to thrive, the Budget must recognise the need for investment in people. Long-term investment in skills, workforce stability, a more practical approach to the Employment Right Bill and meaningful partnerships with employers will yield far more enduring returns...”

Here in Guernsey the picture is slightly different (as always).  The number of vacancies placed with our agency has remained relatively stable and positive throughout the year, and although there is always a slight seasonal drop in available candidates over the summer period, due to vacation time, we have certainly seen a big increase in new candidates registering with our agency since the schools returned.

On our Island we are fortunate to have near full employment, and with hundreds of office-based opportunities still available at every level from trainee to Director, candidates with quality experience and relevant qualifications still have their pick of the bunch of roles.
