How to Motivate Staff Through the January Blues

With January being the month where staff sickness is high and morale low, we have come up with some top tips to motivate staff through the January blues:

1. Generate enthusiasm- get staff talking by organising team building days or fun social events.
2. Recognition- Recognition for hard work will encourage & motivate staff, you could even set up a corporate rewards scheme where you can give employees the chance to get free high street vouchers, a months gym membership or a meal out.
3. Workplace wellbeing- If your staff have new year resolutions to lose weight, why not have a fresh supply of Fruit in the office
4. Planning- Involve employees in business plans for the year ahead. Offer employees the opportunity to share ideas and thoughts they have at a team meeting at the beginning of the year. Consider turning it into a morning event and order in breakfast. You could even set up a team resolutions list of what you want your department to achieve in 2017.
5. Flexible Working- Consider introducing flexible working hours and reduce stress by helping employees to run personal errands
6. Pay reviews and Bonuses- A pay rise or bonus can boost morale and drive staff to perform better
7. Appraisals- Appraisals are a great way of showing staff how much you appreciate them and that their hard work isn’t going unnoticed!
